PR Shot 2013The Crimea call time on eleven years with final album and show

The Crimea, fronted by poetic firebrand Davey Macmanus, will call time on their eleven-year career at a final concert in London’s Jazz Café on July 30th 2013. It follows the release of their final album, the epic sprawl of double album Square Moon, on July 29th 2013.

From being fêted by John Peel, their appearance on Top Of The Pops, to their ground-breaking move to give their second album away for free, to massive tours of North America and China, the curtain finally comes down on a band that trail-blazed their way through the digital-age The curtain call comes with their greatest, most complete album to date and a final show in Camden, where the band first came to prominence in the noughties.

“It was the right time”, said Macmanus. “I’ve been spending time as a nurse, in Diepsloot, South Africa over the past few years, where I’m starting a children’s orphanage. Now that the album’s found a home with the guys at Alcopop and Lazy Acre, it seemed right to go out on something we’re incredibly proud of and close the book on an amazing few chapters of our lives”.

Square Moon, available on double vinyl, CD and download, will be released by Alcopop and Lazy Acre on July 29th 2013. It will be followed by The Crimea’s final concert at London’s Jazz Café on July 30th.
