The Crimea call time on eleven years with final album and show

There’s a Square Moon in the sky tonight, there’s a ghost-train with your name in lights

Dear folks

It’s been one hell of a roller-coaster ride but it’s time for us to announce that come the 1st of August 2013 The Crimea will be no more.

We want to thank you for all your incredible support over the years. It truly has been amazing to get to do the things that we’ve done, a session for the legend John Peel, Top of the Pops, tours of the US, China and absolutely everywhere in the UK – from the Isle Of Skye to Cornwall, from Cabaret Voltaire to the Doncaster Leopard, from the 12 Bar Club to Wembley Arena. And we couldn’t have done any of them without your support.

Our final album, Square Moon will be released on double vinyl / double CD and download on the 29th July.
The next day we’ll play our last show at The Jazz Café in Camden, London, our former stomping grounds.
We’re delighted to announce that Tara Blaise, who provided the amazing backing vocals on the album, will be joining us on stage.

Davey says “It was the right time”, I’ve been spending time as a nurse, in Diepsloot, South Africa over the past few years, where I’m starting a children’s orphanage. I am moving there permanently to fulfil this dream. Now that the album’s found a home with the guys at Alcopop and Lazy Acre Records, it seemed right to go out on something we’re incredibly proud of and close the book on an amazing few chapters of our lives

Enjoy Square Moon, see you at The Jazz Café!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
