Dashboard Confessional + Snow Patrol + The Crimea ? live at Carling Astoria ? Friday 15th August

A night for baring the soul?s deepest emotions sprung forth with the experimental dolly mixture that makes up The Crimea. Davey MacManus? vocals and epileptic stage jolts at times divert the attention from what is one of the most exciting prospects in British music right now. With a psychedelic REM-style blend that twists and turns, ?Fred Flintstone? rises above our heads accompanied by wailing guitar from the awesome Julia Parker.

Short but sweet, their set begs to be played out longer but is cut by the arrival of Snow Patrol whose layers of splintered riffs strip away to reveal a frustrated wall of sound. Vocalist Gary Lightbody thrashes at his guitar wildly almost willing its essence to imbue the crowd. Offbeat but with the passion to inspire, this Irish quartet offer harder rock and hushed harmonies in plentiful supply; long may they run.
