More radio play.

As if being back on SBN’s playlist for the thrid time in a row and XFM’s playlist for the second time in a row, imagine my shock when on Monday evening, just as I’m drifting off to sleep with Radio 1 playing in the background, I hear what I think is the Crimea mentioned. Thinking it’s all a dream, I turn my head towards the radio and listen as something about a tour is mentioned, and then there it is again. “The Crimea”. And something about Opposite something? Five seconds later I’m out of bed jumping around the room as the Klutzville version of Opposite Ends is getting played out of my little grey bedside radio. You can relive my excitement by clicking here and skipping to 1 hour and 45 seconds into Monday 25th’s show, and then waiting a few minutes until The Crimea appear. Sadly the recording will be gone in a week, but you can view the tracklisting for the shows songs here, or click on [More] to see the tracklisting and what the shows presenter had to say about the band.

Camp Channelfly has done it again. Popex, major online fantasy band stock trading game owned by Channelfly has sent out an advert for Lottery Winners On Acid to everyone on it’s mailing list. That’s anywhere up to 110000 (One hundred and ten thousand) people. It looks like they recieved one of Owen’s post-it notes too, and they even added a link to this site :o ) Click [More] to see what it says.

LWOA on Radio 6.

Below is an email I was sent today from the producer of the BBC 6 Music radio station.
Great single – we are playing it on the Evening Sequence at 6 Music. In our playlist meeting the third track made us laugh some..
Cheers, Jo Tyler, Producer, BBC 6 Music

Check out the 6 Music site at The Evening Sequence is on 7pm – 10pm Monday to Thursday.

LWOA on Radio 1′s Session In Wales.

The Crimea were played on Radio 1′s Session In Wales last Thursday I believe. You can hear the show by visiting the Session In Wales site or by clicking here, but it’ll probably be gone by tomorrow evening. It’s on at 1 hour and 32 minutes in, but there’s another nice band from Aberystwyth, The Hot Puppies, on at 1 hr 25 mins that you can have a listen to. They say they recieved the single through the post with a post-it note from Owen stuck on the CD saying “This is my new shit”, along with information about a strangely named Jose Blase, a 19 year old refugee from Zimbabwe, and about a keyboardist from Chamonix. They also believe Owen should be more careful in the future about what he puts on post-it notes.

XFM playlist.

Finally. The Crimea are on the XFM Playlist with Lottery Winners On Acid. Check out the latest playlist here, or click on [More] to see the list with The Crimea in. The single’s also still on the SBN Playlist B for the second time in a row.

General Updates.

The Crimea are back in Kerrang! magazine. They’re in this weeks (16/11/02 issue) news section about four pages in, with Davey giving details on the new single, along with a nice pic of the single cover.
Talking of the new single, it was played on on Radio 1 on Monday on the daytime Mark And Lard show. Apparently they said they liked it.
More single news, this time about buying it. Owen’s said the price of mail order for the single has gone up to ?4.49. It apply’s to the sending a cheque off bit, and might apply to the Townsend Records site too, but at current their prices haven’t changed. Owen apologises for the high price, but if you’re at any of the upcoming gigs you should be able to get it at the merchandise stall (if there is one) for ?4.00.
Townsend Records are also selling Davey’s book, Unamazing Disgraces, for ?6.00 ex. VAT on their web site (?8.55 inc. VAT and P&P).
To end with, another confirmed gig date change of sorts. The Monarch gig on the 11th, which I thought had moved to the 10th, is infact on the 11th. It’s all rather confusing. I say just put off buying tickets to anything until the last minute.

Gig news and Bleedmusic review.

If anyone bought tickets to the cancelled gig at Fibbers, and can get to York Barbican Centre on the 16th, email ASAP to sort out free entry to the gig.
Details on how to pre-order Lottery Winners On Acid, due to be released 25/11/02, are on the shop page.
A poor review of The Crimea at The Monarch on 23/10/02 has been posted on the Bleedmusic website. Click here to see the review.

On SBN Playlist B.

The Crimea are back on the SBN playlist, this time on the B list along with big money makers such as Craig David, Nickleback and Robbie Williams. Click on [More] to see the full B list for 11/11/02, or check the SBN site for the latest playlists.

Gig changes.

The Fibbers gig in York has been cancelled, and replaced by one a day earlier in York Barbican Centre. Sorry to anyone who’d bought tickets to the Fibbers gig. They have added even more dates to the tour though, including another gig in Aberystwyth, which I know will make a few of you very happy. As always, keep checking the gigs page, and the rest of the site for the latest Crimea info.

Gig news.

For anyone who was planning on going to the York gig in Fibbers, don’t get your hopes up. Owen’s not too sure whether it will happen or not, so don’t go buying tickets or making any travel plans just yet, and sorry to those of you who already have. On a happier note, it looks like they’ll be playing the Birmingham Academy on the 29th of this month, supporting The Levellers. And anyone who’s going to The Borderline to see them tommorow evening, I’ll have a flyer up on the site by tomorrow afternoon to get you in for ?1 cheaper. Check the gigs page for updates on all the latest gig dates and venues.

Towsend records selling LWOA.

The first place I’ve found selling the new Lottery Winners On Acid single is Its currently listed as out soon, but when it’s out, it’ll be ?2.34 ex. vat, and about ?2.75 with it. Add to that ?1.50 for shipping and you can have the single for ?4.25. I’ve never bought anything from the site so I dunno how reliable it is. But wow, I just noticed they’ve got it on the main page of the site in the pre-order section, along with some Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams stuff. Maybe I’m wrong thinking no one knows who they are.
