Crimea Related Bands Update

Aussie band Project Winterhaven have a new website. For those of you who don’t know, PWH are the band fronted by Crimea lead guitarist Julz Parker, her brother Joe on bass and Gold Coast Rock Award winner Chubby Winterhaven on drums. Get over to www.projectwinterhaven.com for the new site, new photos, new mp3s and general new newishness.
The Steophonics have sacked their drummer Stuart Cable as he’s been spending too much time doing other things such as Cable TV, which the Crimea featured on earlier in the year. Hopefully they don’t sign up Owen again as they did when Cable pulled out of their tour of Japan.
Aber band The Keys have a new self titled album coming out very soon, and as I write a track from the album is being played on Radio 1. They also have some gigs coming up in early October so check their website www.thekeysmusic.co.uk for more details.
And by the looks of it this is very old new, but it’s brand new to me so… Ex Llama Farmers singer Bernie Simpson has a new band (who by now have probably split up too). They’re called Vizzini and er.. that’s about it.
If anyone would like to contribute some news or, even better, help me out with the site, get in touch with me at christopher@inaudible.co.uk. People with an interest in the band, time to spare and enough knowledge to cope with some roughly put together HTML would be good, but frankly, any nutter’ll do.

Back To The News

Now I’m officialy a Uni student and have settled into my room, and everything’s back to full working order (except BF1942, fucking uni firewalls), it’s time for some new Crimea news. Woohoo. :o\
Owen’s been interviewed by SoundsXP and it’s a good read with loads of new info. Can you believe that your favourite band could have been called Fat Camp Heroes? Yes? Ok then… Either click here for the online article or [More] for inaudible’s version.
There’s a review of the Kerrang! Weekender festival at CMUonline’s site. The festival happened so long ago I can’t remember if I’ve even posted a link to that review before. But by all means read it again by clicking here or [More].
And the band are out on tour again. [Cue cheers of excitement and women bearing their breasts outside the bands flat] Yey. The details have already been posted on the gigs page but I’ve been ordered to make the dates more public so here you go…
More fun and frolics on the third Crimea tour.October 8 - Pop Factory, Porth (Part of the pop factory awards’ run-up)
November 8 - Manchester Night And Day Cafe
Nov 9 - Glasgow King Tuts
Nov 10 - Derby Victoria Inn
Nov 11 - Cardiff Barfly
Nov 12 - London Metro

Right, I’m off to learn stuff now. Good morning.

The Crimea In Session For Radio 1

Radio 1 Session In WalesThe Crimea were in session for Radio 1’s Session In Wales last Thursday. First off, if you have a recording of the show or know enough about computers to record the streaming audio from the Session In Wales website before next Thursday, click on [More] to help me out. After an interview over the phone with Davey containing the usual Crocketts mentions and band history, upcoming single Fred Flintstone, oldie Bombay Sapphire Coma and the excellent new song Bad Vibrations (all of which were recorded especially for show) were played during the two hour radio extravaganza that is the Session In Wales. Click on [More] to see more details including a tracklisting for the show, Session In Wales’ details on the band and those details on how to help me get MP3s of the show up on the site for download. For all of you who missed it, you can listen to here up to next Thursday or stream each song and the interview over the internet from this page.

Beautiful Photos

Beautifuldays FestivalPhotos of The Crimea playing at the Beautifuldays festival in Devon on August 16th are available on the web at www.thedigitaljedi.co.uk. There’s five pictures of the band labled “the crimea… .jpg” and three others labled “pantman… .jpg” showing the band with a strange new member. No, the bloke in the pants is not Joe. Visit the Beautifuldays website here. Thanks to Martin Hough for finding the photos on the net and letting me know about them.

New gigs.

Davey MacManusDavey will be playing a solo acoustic gig at the Toucan Club in Cardiff next Thursday and then The Crimea return as a full band at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester on Friday 12th September. Check the gigs page for details of all upcoming gigs.
You may have read in this months issue of Sound Nation that the band are playing the Leeds and Reading festivals, well they’re not. Sorry. But if you can find a copy there’s a little review of the Compass Point festival gig in there. And pictures of the gig have now been put up on the pictures page.

Listen to Mr Walton.

Evening, just a quick one for everyone at a loose end tonight. Please tune into Adam Walton’s Radio Wales show cos he’s a big fan of the band and he just played possible new single Fred Flintstone. Woohoo.

New gigs and single.

There’s three Crimea related gigs lined up for the rest of the month. The first is at London’s Astoria supporting Dashboard Confessional. The second at England’s answer to the Burning Man festival, only with less sand and naked people and much more music, provided by the likes of The Levellers, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and others. The Beautiful Days Festival takes place in Devon in exactly two weeks time. The third gig is a solo Kernal Krok acoustic at the Toucan Club in Cardiff, where Davey will be showing the world what he can do without four extra nutters behind him. As always, check the gigs page for more details.
And next week the band will be hard at work creating their next masterpiece. The single is currently due to be released around early October.
