LWOA News

From the pages of Kensei News & Informationg Services comes what looks like a press release from Warner Bros. Records on The Crimea’s new EP and US gigs. Hit More to read it.
Also, Double Dragon Records have updated their site with news of the EP release. Hit More for that too.
And while browsing through issues of Kerrang magazine in the unlikely even there’s a Crimea story in there, I realised it might not be such an unlikely thing if I was an American. So if any of you in the States (I know there’s a couple who read this) find a Crimea related article in any US music mags (most likely a review of the LWOA EP) be sure to scan it and send it in to photos@inaudible.co.uk so I can stick it up here for all to read.

LWOA Mini Site Link

Err.. sorry if the link to the LWOA mini site on the main page didn’t work for a while, I broke stuff :o\ But it’s back now, and you can always get to it at www.bandbuilder.com/thecrimea.

LWOA EP Digital Downloads

The Lottery Winners On Acid EP is now available to purchase and download (in the US/Canada only) from Buy.com for $7.99, and Liquid.com where you can purchase each song from the EP individually for $0.99 each. Most of the other stores promoted by Warners probably have it too, though you’ll need to download each store’s own browser to check.

Crocketts Merchandise

Due to Owen / Davey & co. going to America as The Crimea to record things for a couple of months, they’re not gonna be able to send out any Crox/Crimea merch until they’re back. And when they do return I’ll have an updated shop page to dazzle you.

Lottery Winners On Acid EP Released

The five track Lottery Winners On Acid EP is out now in the US. If it’s not in your local record store, here’s some more places you can get it online: Easy Street Records, JR.com and Silver Platters Online. I can’t vouch for the reliability of any of these stores, though I can tell you none ship to the UK (try Amazon or Tower Records for that).
And as the band are off to America for the next couple of months, they won’t be able to send out anything you order from them for a while (so don’t, at least till they’re back).

Little Random Things

Iona Bateman has stuck up a little pic she took of Davey on her site. Here it is. Check her other stuff out too at Soulfluff.com.
Amy Wiseman also has some pics of the band she took on her site, I’m sure you can figure out which ones they are.
Lottery Winners On Acid is number twenty two in… some chart… of stuff… KEXP 90.3 FM’s Variety Music Chart for 26/09/04.
And the song’s also been playlisted on Woxy.com Online Radio. Little and random indeed. LWOA ETA 3.5 days :o) *dances*

Music News

The Hot Puppies (from Aber) have a new single out, called Green Eyeliner. You can get it from… somewhere… Track Records York’ll prolly have it… They’re playing London, Bristol, Bath and Aber this month too.
Mindasuno are also touring this month, and should be in session for Radio Wales’ Adam Walton by the end of the year. You will want to listen to it…

Style Changes

I’ve just changed the stylesheet around a bit, dunno if it’s better like this or not, so lemme know…
Good thing *yay*: verdana font - easier to read and it’s smaller vertically so i can fit more stuff on a page (especially good with horizontal frames), it’s easier to read cos it’s not so bright…
Bad thigs *boo*: verdana font is wider so it’s made the lyrics menu page mess up a bit, and the site looks like it’s been put through the wash a few too many times compared to the crimea one…

LWOA EP Purchase Updates

LWOA EPThis mainly aimed at the UK fans as I’m sure those in the US will be able to get it from you’re local record store…
If you don’t mind the wait then I believe the band will be bringing numerous copies of the EP back to the UK with them when they return after their US tour. You’ll save quite a bit on postage vs. importing from the US, and they’ll probably sell them cheaper than the stores anyway.
If you’d still like to import a copy, Amazon.com and TowerRecords.com will both be selling copies, Tower Records being the cheaper of the two to import from coming in at just under ?8 when postage is added.
Of course you can always go the technical route and download the digital single from various Warner endorsed online stores, though the only one listing it at the moment is Buy.com and they don’t actually have a price listed yet

MTR / KCRW Broadcast

KCRWSo here’s what the Museum of TV & Radio said about access to the radio broadcast… “CMJ badge holders are admitted free to the broadcast.” Don’t get too excited, badges cost more than your life’s worth. “If you are with the band, you should let the folks at KCRW know as they’ll be putting together a list of non-CMJ badge holders.” So if you really wanna go, get on to either KCRW or someone from the band and they might just be able to get you in.

Site Updates

Due to major spam abuse I’ve had to remove comment posting for archived news entries. You’ll still be able to post comments on the main news page entries, and read the ones left for archived ones, and it’s not like you ever posted comments for those anyway, so it’s no big deal…
Eventually I’ll get round to adding a newer ad-free message board for the site, as a replacement for the current ad-including one and the spam infested forum. If you know a simple to use forum you’d like on the site, then please leave suggestions by hitting the Comments button.
Appologies to anyone using the Firefox browser. Right now it seems this page is the only one properly compatible, but I promise I’m working on the others. Blame Microsoft for my incompetent web coding. Like you didn’t already.
I’m guessing it’s not just myself becoming annoyed with the LWOA pop-up on the main page. Complain in the comments and it’s gone.
And note the slight alteration to the below post, apparently the radio show is part of the CMJ Music Marathon. *Dies*.

Gig Updates

Well shut my mouth. I said five days ago The Crimea were playing a gig at NY’s Museum of TV & Radio as part of the CMJ Music Marathon, but it now appears to be just be a live radio session broadcast. They’re actually playing two other gigs for CMJ, but check the gigs page for that stuff. I’ve had a look at the MTR website and it seems you might still be able to get in and watch the radio broadcast stuff, though i’d check that out with the museum before you re-build Concorde or anything… Edit: So I actually just emailed them for you to see if they’ll let you in. I’ll let you know what I hear back. Now say “thankyou uncle webmaster”…
A small North American / Candian tour has also been planned, check the mail out below or the gigs page very shortly for that news.

Mailing List

Mailing ListThe Crimea - getting it on with Jimmy, Media Players and America. Lovin’ it.
Errr well that about says it all. I’ll save my amusing comments for a later post… Hit More.

Live Review

I’ll air on the side of caution with this one, though now the hole’s been pluged i don’t see what could be scary about the man at all anymore…
“Next stop for AMP is the Music Choice stage to see The Crimea who have got enough tunes to be successful, yet they are let down by the fact that they don’t look like a band, they have a lead singer who made one member of AMP’S team want to do very bad things to him.”
www.amusicalpriority.co.uk/Feature_Vreview.htm
And the rest of the site’s coming along nicely, might have some more pages up by the end of the week :o)
