Christmas Gig Media

More to come later today, first is below – …Saigon from the soundcheck, see for more as they come. Apologies in advance for Annie’s big headed bf obscuring the view during gig. I guess we can’t all be tall and handsome.

And I’ll sort out the mess of a live blog below later too, including links to support The Damn Jammage (who were ace, really). Actually, here they are. And this was The Crimea’s female vox for the evening – Mary Turner.

Setlist 101210

So the sound came out great on the wee iPhone. Not so sure about the gig video, but stewhiley got some great 720p HD stuff, all linked below where available.

Crimea live blog go

Hit more for… Err… More. Crimea live blogging is go. On a site no one uses. Oh well. Excuse the auto spell check on phone. Heres one to start:

15.43 – finding random floors to sleep on. Regular crimea fan friends all pissed off n got jobs or something. Will Joe have remembered to stick me on guestlist? May get locked out of th sold out show if not. Will anyone even understand me through this damn cold?

Enter The Twilight Zone

Rich Wurzel? Biology Teacher.
Owen Hopkin? Classic FM editor.
Dan Harris? Bank Clerk (possibly, or dead, or just married, same thing).
Davey Crockett? NHS nurse and all round health-based academic (and he can spell 😮 ).
Will “No 1 Guitar Tech” ‘Boz’ Boswell? Promotions extraordinaire Saatchi & Saatchi head of design?

Dear lord, I think it just hit me. Shit got freaky. Joe, Andy, you best be suitably crazed, drunk and homeless next month, else I’ll be sorely dissapointed. You’re the only hope we have left 🙁 .

Hit more for another reason not to visit Camden town on a dark night, and why I’m more scared than ever of the self-harming, self-loathing, Mr Self-Destruct

The Crimea’s Christmas Gig 2010

What? Last post Jun 10? So long I forgot my password to this place and had to dig it out the desk drawer.

Almost as long as the Crimea’s last gig. That would be, their Chrismtas Gig 2009. But no fear, 2010 is hear, and along come ye olde Davey & Co to fill your festive stockings with… a lot less than they may have done when they were all free and single. Well, I don’t know about that, but Dan Harris got married. Erm… wrong website. Ok…

The Crimea Christmas Gig 2010!
@ The Enterprise, Camden, London, UK (home of their very first gig too)
Full details @
Tickets at Musicglue.

Come along, bring… someone… preferably who still knows who The Crimea are… and festive joyness and I still need that elf costume. And no more excuses like “oh, I’m in Texas” yeah yeah. You can even meet yours truely, sulking on the floor, pissed that they changed the damn date/venue/line up again and told no one… no no, it won’t happen this time, deffinately not… I hope.

PS. Keys & Hot Puppies for support? We can dream…

Not so good news…

Stuart, along with ‘Phonics band mates, was one of The Crimea’s many fans. So much so that he had the band perform on his own TV show, Cable TV, in 2003. There’s some pics of the performance here, as well as video here (you’ll need the Indeo 5 codec to watch – see this). I sure there’s gonna be a few unhappy Crimea members and fans today. RIP Mr Cable.

A Gig! An Actual Gigity-Gig!

And with the usual just-maybe-not-sort-of-quite-in-time notice, here’s the full details:
The Windmill
The Crimea’s biggest, or at least craziest supporter, Matt “Crazy Matt” Stockman has his own record lable (god forbid). And the launch party for Sharabang Music is this Saturday 22nd May, at The Windmill in Brixton, and features our very own Davey putting in an acoustic performance, first publicised one of the year no less. Doors are 2pm, entry is £7, more details in the links below, and hit More for the press release. Oh and, unless you like being covered in beer, then stay away from the short black curly haired dancing man. That, or don’t complain – you were warned ;). Seriously though, do say hi to Matt if you see him, and give him your best wishes for the lable, I know I would if I was there…

Sticking with the school theme…

Winner of most subvertive use – ever – of Crocketts lyrics, goes to…

…the school teacher who used Billy And The Dragon (off The Crocketts’ first ever EP) to teach Polish kids English. No, it wasn’t the world’s best Science teacher ex-Crox bassist Rich, although the answer isn’t too surprising. Long time Crox fan (Stuart) Denyer gets the honours. View more pics of random Polish kids on his site. So I’m just gonna make my exit here before I type anything even creepier…

All new Crimea, all new bloggin’

Bllogging this from me fancy new iPhone, having to leave my PC alone while it records 4 brand new Crimea tracks off their myspace. Already had to restart twice due to errors, had to spend hours trying to remember how to record from stereo mix too, been half a decade nearly since I last had too. God I feel old. At least my mum no longer reads this site 🙂

so erm… Links and mp3s once they’re done. Must go, iPhone not too easy to type long message on.

l_5cec9d1729f74d71b2e9bb2a53e3d6441UPDATE: Here they are. Take that, incomprehensible soundcard drivers. All the newer or unreleased stuff from the MySpace page. Tara-tastic. That girl needs some stickers. And do check out the MySpace page, someone’s given it somewhat of a revamp, new pics n everyfink. Even one of Rod MacManus, first time for everything…

Judas Loves You (Rough Mix) – Segways in to Tragedy Rocks at the end, then something else. “There’s no one else like you in the world, all I wanna do is cry…” I’ve heard so many I no longer know which song is which anymore 😐
